This precharged pneumatic PCP has two built-in chambers cc total that hold high-pressure air 3, psi from a scuba tank, hand pump or compressor.
It has a two-stage adjustable trigger. The sights are pretty unique, in that both the front and rear are adjustable. The front post can be adjusted for elevation by turning a small wheel under the post.
The rear is a two-hole aperture that flips from a small to large hole and is adjustable for windage. To get the most from this airgun, you'll want to mount a scope on the 11mm dovetails. The finely rifled and 10x1mm threaded steel barrel RH twist is fed by a 6-shot cylinder that makes for quick follow-up shots.
The cylinder makes it easy to use longer pellets and even mix-and-match different pellet lengths and types. The adjustable power wheel has 13 settings, making this one of the most versatile powerhouses on the market! You'll get about 11 shots on high power and 18 on medium. Was hesitant at first buying a refurb rifle, but it exceeded my expectations. What others should know : I now have the Sumatra Carbine in. The craftsmanship is outstanding on both.
A DonnyFL Moderator and adaptor is a must for backyard shooting as these rifles are loud!If you're looking for a high power, clip-fed PCP for varmint hunting and pest control, the Sumatra air rifle is very tough to beat at the price. It's well finished with a traditional yet distinctive appearance. Accuracy is excellent over a wide range of pellets, although you'll want to shoot heavy pellets for the maximum knock down power.
Yes, the Sumatra is loud and heavy. This is not a family-friendly everyday plinker. But for the hunter, it's a winner! For its combination of quality, usability, value and performance, the Sumatra air rifle receives a HAM Silver Award.
For this price, you have an extremely powerful and capable hunting air rifle. As the table below shows, muzzle velocity was in the fps to fps range with all the standard HAM test pellets. Accuracy slipped a little with the lightest alloy pellets, the Gamo Paltinum PBAs, but it was still better than anticipated beforehand as the Sumatra air rifle is famed for its capability with heavy and super-heavy pellets.
Again, you can see this in the table. This is huge for a. Changing to the high power setting increased muzzle velocity by about 6 to 7 per cent on the Sumatra air rifle tested by HAM.
Trigger pull weight averaged 3 lb 7 oz in the Sumatra air rifle tested by HAM. Specs for the Sumatra say that trigger has a two stage action, but we could only detect a single stage. Let off was predictable, a good attribute to accurate shooting. The trigger of the Sumatra air rifle is adjustable for pull weight and the instruction manual provides instructions for how this can be done. As is normal for HAM tests, we resisted temptation and tested the gun with the trigger as set by the factory.
The underlever cocking action is, of course, somewhat unusual for an air rifle. Of course the Sumatra is mainly a hunting air rifle, so this would not normally be an issue as few shots are generally fired when hunting. The cocking effort seemed hard, compared to a sidelever action, for example, but it became easier as the Sumatra was shot repeatedly.
HAM measured the cocking effort at approximately 21 lbs. The manual safety is conveniently located just behind and above the trigger. The muzzle velocity claim for the Sumatra air rifle in. The example tested by HAM exceeded this specification even with the heaviest pellets tested — the Trying to decide if the extra weight is worth the power, carbine vs full length. I would like to be able to put heavy pellets in and get close to 99fpe.
How much weaker is the carbine? Dose anyone have them? How much lighter dose the carbine feel?

If any pellet breaks the sound barrier you will get a loud crack and no muzzle device will prevent that, the only way to stop that is to turn the power down or use a heavier pellet, Neil. I am assuming the one you have is not the carbine?
Do you think going by your friends would you rather have had the carbine? I have heard that the longer barrel on the non carbine is more powerful and quieter?

If I get one I will use heavy pellets and a Clague ldc. Just trying to get advice on which one to buyIts hard to decide when I am not close enough to pyramid air to just hold one. I have a bobcat. I agree with what you are saying about the small sonic boom that happens when using lighter pellets and going above a certain fps. I would use heavier pellets on high power to get the speed down, and would have you make me an lcd.
From what I have been told the 10 inch keeps the bark down, but every customer has different requirements. I have been told that on full power they are back yard friendly just as long as the heavier pellets are used and they travel at subsonic speeds, Neil. I never shot the cc model, but I really like my little carbine. I like it because I hike with it, and needed something that was agile. I would like to have had the extra power, of the cc model, and if power was my first consideration I would have got the full size Sumatra, sorry I could not have been more help to you.

Our tech department tested the. Sumatra with Unit Converter for Airgun Measurements. Create an online review and share your thoughts with other customers. Things I liked : Power, power and more power. Accuracy is sharp. I like shooting it cowboy style with no bags on a bench or standing. Nice groupings despite a good kick. Fun lever action. Things I would have changed : Not much. I decided to fill it then turn it muzzle down before opening the pump release valve and it helps a bit.
Not a big deal for me. What others should know : Little loud for the backyard even with a DonnyFL moderator so warn your neighbors that your installing a deck with your pneumatic nail gun for a few weeks Things I liked : It's a pretty nice air rifle. Looks are not that important to me but it is really nice to see walnut in a plastic world. Power seems to be as advertised. Haven't measured velocity yet but 16 gr.
Pyramyd followed my shipping instructions and rifle arrived in bush Alaska in about a week. Things I would have changed : Kinda heavy but so what? Magazines could be improved with some type of detent to keep pellets from falling out.Executive branch webquest answers
Somewhat difficult to insert magazine especially with scope in place. What others should know : Cracks like a rimfire when fired. If you have that kind of money to spend, go for it.
Durability yet to be determined, if it continues to function for a couple or more years itll be a favorite of mine. Things I liked : Very powerful with the Overall rating: 5. Value for money: 5. By Anirudh from USA on Marvellous service by folks at Pyramyd air. Came pre tested and mounted with a laepers scope.
Perfectly sighted in and accurate to the bulls eye. This is a sheer pleasure to shoulder air rifle, in fact this is the big daddy of them all, very powerful, loves heavier pellets, easy to shoulder, dead accurate. Lovely repeating action, and good shots on lower power settings, setting of 13 settings. Very varsitile, can be used for back yard plinking or long range hunting with variable power.Rizzini br110 review
The revolver action is smooth jam free no hassles. Fit and finish is so good U can display in your living room as a show piece. Am sure this will give years of shooting pleasure. I have shot upto yards also the drop is approx feet at that range on medium power, but at that range also the pellet nicks the plaster off a wall which u can see through the scope.
Seneca Sumatra 2500 Carbine
Things I would have changed : Revolver should not rotate once a pellet has been fed in, if not careful u can jam 2 pellets one after another and jam the barrell. Safety can be automatic, and the instruction manula should be more comprehensive, it is totally basic and U cannot make out anything from it, lots of confusion on what is highmedium and low settings, conflicting views on net also, I tried my self and realised that the small dots direction is lower and large dot is higher.
The dust cap on the fill probe area is loose and about shots later just pops off, can be improved. What others should know : Buy a Air venturi G4 hand pump and fit the fill probe onto the hose directlytighten with a wrench, not adaptor is required, works smoothly, have used only that for refilling, no hassles, yes refill once U are in the lower side of green zone, less efforts required to pump upto the red zone, only pump upto the barcheck the pump's gauze not rifle's as rifle gauze is not too accurate.
Overall rating: 2. Value for money: 3. Things I liked : The fit and finish are beautiful on this air rifle. There was enough air in the reservoir to shoot 6 shots with my existing pellets.
The FPS was with Things I would have changed : The air input port was machined too large and the input fitting size had to be increased by 1mm. The fill port would not allow any air to be put in the reservoir no matter what of the 5 suggestions from Pyramid Air Tech Support I implemented. I was using a Hills pump to pressurize the reservoir. I have returned the carbine for credit.
What others should know : I purchased this air rifle based on all 14 reviews being a five star rating, including the video review from Paul Cappella. Was hesitant at first buying a refurb rifle, but it exceeded my expectations. What others should know : I now have the Sumatra Carbine in. The craftsmanship is outstanding on both. A DonnyFL Moderator and adaptor is a must for backyard shooting as these rifles are loud!
Very accurate out of the box. Things I liked : great feel. Things I would have changed : haven't found anything yet. What others should know : a lot of gun for the money. Things I liked : small, accurate, lite, easy hand pumping, fast follow up shots, powerful.

Its chronoing 52ftlbs using The problem is that it is monumentally loud. It currently has a silencer fitted dont know what make but the internals are a series of interlocking plastic cones which does not seem to make any difference, it still cracks like a rimfire on the low power setting 28ftlbs and only becomes quiet when dialed down to the very lowest setting Get a slot on your FAC for a moderator and get one designed for.
Lots of interesting articles here. Hi, you're probably all well ahead of me on this, but by my calcs, a May be worth some experiments with pellet weight versus power to find a combination that groups well and keeps the noise down? Big is beautiful with moderators.
You also don't want any that is so jam packed with cones that there is a reduction in volume because of this I think I know what type you refer to. Any large can with just a couple of baffles inside it will silence that gun such that the action will be more audible, as will be the pellet hitting a hard target.
